Going through a divorce can be very difficult and contentious. It can also be as simple as you and your spouse are willing to make it. At Brown Family Law LLC in Salt Lake City, our attorneys do everything we can to get you through your divorce with a minimum of conflict, both to keep your costs reasonable and to help you move on with your life.
We sit down with you to discuss how you are doing, what is going on, and how you want to see all of this resolved. We talk about your goals for yourself and your children regarding “life after divorce.” We discuss all of your options and educate you so you can make informed decisions. Our law firm has guided many people down this path before. We understand what you are going through and we will help you get through this.
Helping You Reach An Agreement
Filing for divorce in Utah requires that you live in the county where you plan to file for three months prior to filing the paperwork.
Typically divorces take one of two forms:
- Uncontested divorces — Where the parties can agree on everything prior to trial and no litigation is required.
- Contested divorces — Where the parties cannot agree on some or all issues and the case must be taken before a judge who will make the final decision.
We help individuals with military divorce proceedings. We will protect your interests, including your rights to military pension and benefits.
Our goal is to come to an agreement between you and your spouse on as many issues as possible. Marco Brown, the founder of our firm, is a trained mediator and offers mediation services in addition to his services as an attorney. He can act as either an advocate during mediation or a neutral mediator in negotiations between the parties.
Handling Your Divorce With Care
We recommend that you and your spouse come to an agreement on as much as possible regarding your divorce in order to have control over the decisions affecting your futures and to reduce the expense of the divorce. If you and your spouse are unable to come to an agreement on some or all of the issues regarding your divorce, we are experienced trial lawyers who will fight for what is right and protect your interests.
Our goal is to help you find a favorable divorce settlement and to resolve issues related to:
- Property division
- Spousal support or alimony
- Child support
- Child custody and visitation
- Protective orders and domestic violence issues
- Modifications of orders
- Prenuptial agreements
