Jon was born and raised in Cache Valley, Utah. He attended Utah State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2002. After graduating, Jon continued his studies at Utah State, and graduated with a master’s degree in economics in 2004.
Jon attended Drake University Law School, in Des Moines, Iowa, from 2005 to 2008. During law school, Jon served first as an editor, and then as the Executive Editor, of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law. While in law school, Jon also interned with the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, where he prepared the state’s case in licensing and enforcement hearings for health facilities in Iowa.
After law school, Jon entered private practice, focusing his work on estate planning, family law, and criminal law. Jon also worked for the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals for a time, where he represented the state of Iowa in license revocation hearings involving abuse of dependent adults in health facilities.
Jon is an active member of the Family Law Section of the Utah Bar Association. Jon has also been a presenter in continuing legal education seminars.
When Jon is not working, he spends his time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys playing golf (at times) and traveling.
