I’m at the 2016 avvo.com Lawyernomics Conference in Las Vegas (or, as avvo.com would have us call it #lawyernomics2016). I’m sitting here taking tons of notes, and I thought those notes might be useful to others that couldn’t make it to the conference. I’ll post the notes from each presenter individually.

Without further ado, here are the notes from the first presenter (whose name I don’t know because I arrved late; I will blame Vegas traffic for this, although it probably has something to do with me revising a temporary restraining order in my hotel room):

Unselling: we got here a little late, so I didn’t get the initial portion. Presenter is a funny Canadian. He talked about a ton, but his point is you have to get personal and connect with clients. Social media is fine for community, but you have to know what your clients like and give that to them. Great example is Joshie the giraffe and Ritz Carlton. Stories about realtor connecting with potential clients are pretty inspiring (e.g., found guys favorite doughnuts and had them delivered to his home, all before he was a client). Point is to get off social media and get personal in order to sell.
